Court Reporting FAQs

• Court Reporting Services are responsible for creating the verbatim record of court proceedings required to be reported/recorded at public expense in Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns, and Volusia counties. This is accomplished through the use of stenographic and digital court reporting and includes the following proceedings:

  • Criminal (felony & misdemeanor)
  • Juvenile Delinquency
  • Juvenile Dependency & TPR
  • Domestic Violence Injunction for Protection
  • Guardianship (§ 744.109(1), F.S.)
  • Mental Health/Baker Act
  • Substance Abuse/Marchman Act
  • Adult Protective Services Act
  • General Magistrate
  • Child Support Hearing Officer

• Yes. Capital Death Penalty Trials and Post-Conviction hearings are taken stenographically. For more information about ordering these types of proceedings, please contact one of our offices.

For civil, family, and traffic infraction hearings, it is the responsibility of the litigant to hire a stenographic court reporter from a private court reporting agency. The Office of Court Reporting Services does not provide private court reporting services, nor can we confirm if a private court reporting agency was present at the hearing.

• A digital recording is an audio/video recording captured by electronic means.

• Depending on your selection you’ll receive one of the following:

  • E-Recording (downloadable link via e-mail)
  • CD/DVD – either mailed or picked up from our office.
An E-Recording will be an audio (and video when available) file containing the requested court event. A secure link will be e-mailed to the requesting party allowing access to download the file to a personal device. This is the fastest delivery method. Once sent, the downloadable file will be available for 5 business days.

A CD/DVD recording will have the audio (and video when available) file containing the requested court event. Please note that all CD/DVD options must be played with a PC or MAC - the discs will not play in CD players or car stereo systems.

• Please visit www.circuit7.org. Under Programs and Services select Court Operations, then Court Reporting Services. There you will find a link to the on-line ordering system.

• Yes, the cost is $20.00 per court event. Payment is required before a request is processed.

• Once you complete your request via the on-line ordering system, you will be directed to a third-party payment vendor. The payment vendor can process your request with either a debit card, credit card, or electronic check. Please note that the vendor does charge a surcharge.

Payment can also be made via cashier’s check or money order made payable to State of Florida.

The recording request will not be processed until the payment has been received and processed.

Payment can be dropped off at any Digital Court Reporting Office in the 7th Circuit or mailed to:

Manager, Court Reporting Services
251 N. Ridgewood Ave, Room 242
Daytona Beach, FL 32114

Along with payment, be sure to include the Order Number in your mailing.

• The digital court reporting offices will generally process requests within 3-business days. Again, the quickest delivery option is the downloadable file.

• Expedited services are not available, but recordings are processed as quickly as possible. Please note that requests are completed in the order in which they were received.

• Criminal proceedings are retained for ten (10) years pursuant to Florida Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration Rule 2.430(e)(2). All other non-criminal proceedings are retained for five (5) years pursuant to Florida Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration Rule 2.430(e)(3).
